Taking its name from the local Flatiron geological features in Colorado that inspires the form of this wheel, this an elegantly designed wheel built from maple and apple-ply. This is a striking and unique take on a Saxony style wheel, possibly verging on a steam-punk vibe in appearance. We love it!
The Flatiron Spinning Wheel can be customised and built it to your preference, with either the flyer on the left or the right-hand side. Self-aligning bearings in the maidens, and a fully adjustable drive wheel means this is really well-balanced wheel. The clever quick release lever makes changing bobbins trouble free.
The Flatiron can be set up in all three tension systems, Scotch tension, double drive, and Irish tension. The Flatiron comes with medium and fast whorls; the extra slow, slow, high, and super high speed whorls can also be used for a wide range of ratios.
Included with each Schacht Flatiron Spinning Wheel are a poly drive band, threading hook, three bobbins, medium and fast whorls, and double drive band material. The wheel is supplied flat-packed for ease of shipping with a comprehensive instruction manual.
