Glow Worms Scarf Handwoven by Weft Blown
On our trip to New Zealand in 2017 we visited the Glow Worm Caves on Lake Te Anau.
After entering the cave complex you go on a small boat into the pitch darkness of the underground caves. When your eyes adjust and you look up you can see the tiny glow worms, which are actually moth larvae, wiggling about and creating their own bioluminescence.
This scarf is inspired by these glow worms and is handwoven by Ange at Weft Blown using hands-on Romney yarn we found in a craft shop in New Zealand, Boucle wool hand-dyed by The Border Tart, Merino Wool hand-dyed by Ripples Crafts, and a reflective yarn to give the effect of the wee glow worms.
These yarns have created a lovely soft scarf that's perfect to wrap up warm in.
Care: hand wash only and iron whilst damp.
Dimensions: 26cm by 200cm long (excluding fringe)
